Using Pay Per Click Search Engines To Drive Traffic To Your Site
|
|
With pay per click search engines you can get top
ranking on specific keywords simply by outbidding your competition
for those keywords. Whoever is willing to pay the most for the
keyword gets the top ranking.
The second highest bid gets the second position and so on. Then
every time someone clicks on your listing to go to your website you
are charged the bid amount or less for that click. |
Normally you will have to pay a setup fee and have some
money in your account. Then the search engine company will simply draw off
of that account. When they balance gets low they will normally notify you.
When the balance is used up they will stop listing your site until you add
more to the account.
You can normally open an account for around $50 including setup fee and
opening balance.
Obviously the key here is to know your numbers.
If you know that one out of a hundred web-visitors results in a loan and
it costs you $3.00 to get a top ranking on a high traffic keyword then you
know the marketing cost per loan will be $300.00.
You simply have to decide whether it is worth that to you. If not you
could try paying a little less and getting a lower ranking. You will get
less traffic but your marketing cost per loan should decrease.
Another valuable secret is to come up with as many viable keywords as
possible. You do want the keywords to be targeted to the right people you
are looking for or you’re just wasting money.
But if you can come up with more keywords often times you can bring your
“cost per click” down by finding keywords that only cost you pennies.
Some of the pay per click search engines are also starting to offer
geographic filtering. In other words you can specify that you only
want clicks from a certain geographic area.
Don’t underestimate the value of having compelling copy in your listing
either. You may be able to draw more traffic even with a lower ranking if
your copy/offer is good enough.
